On Tuesdays in winter, our hiking group straps snowshoes onto our feet and we hit the Alps. It’s probably my most favorite thing to do in winter. It’s so beautiful, like a winter wonderland, and so quiet and peaceful. We get into good conversations about school or marriage or travel or life back home. We have a big lunch and maybe drink gluwein. The mountains are full of Swiss hikers, crunch crunch crunching their way up and down the mountains, making snow angels, drinking and toasting with their friends. Why do we all stay inside all winter back home? Maybe if we ever move back to the US, I’ll start a snowshoe group. We might not have the Alps, but we’ll have the snow angels and good conversation, and those are the most important things.
