A road trip through Germany and France (Part 2)

We woke up the next morning and headed out of Germany and into France. France! Sophie was so excited! This was the country she had been waiting to see. And it was gorgeous. We visited the Alsace region of France, which is rich in political history, having changed hands between Germany and France over time. I was particularly excited to visit Colmar. I had never been there but had heard it was one of the most beautiful villages in all of Europe.

We started our trip by visiting Chateau Haut Koenigsbourg, in Orshwiller, Alsace, France.

Heading toward the castle, it is the only thing visible on the mountain, peeking through the clouds.

It was a beautiful drive through part of Alsace, and then up through the villages leading up the the castle.

We continuted on from Orshwiller, toward the beautiful city of Colmar. It was a rainy day, but the old town was still postcard-perfect. Vin explored the streets swinging his sword (from Haut Koenigsbourg), and the girls loved popping into stores and taking pictures.

It was a sweet little road trip, close to home and and easy drive for a weekend away. Back to reality!
